About The Artist

Marlborough Fine Art was founded in London in 1946 by Frank Lloyd and Harry Fischer, and the gallery conducted its first exhbibition in 1947. During the 1950's, Marlborough developed an international client base and embraced a new generation of post-World War II artists including Henry Moore, Francis Bacon, Graham Sutherland and Ben Nicholson. In 1960, a second gallery was opened in Rome, and in 1963 the New York gallery was founded.

Marlborough Gallery has represented such seminal artists as Jacques Lipchitz, David Smith, Robert Motherwell, Phillip Guston, Adolph Gottlieb, and the estates of Jackson Pollock and Franz Kline. Its expanded international presence now includes Marlborough Gallery, Inc., New York, NY, USA; Marlborough Fine Art Ltd., London, England; Galería Marlborough, S.A., Madrid, Spain; Galería A.M.S. Marlborough Santiago, Chile; Marlborough Monaco; and IPA/Marlborough Ltd., New York, NY, USA. Today Marlborough continues to represent highly credentialed artists of established international merit including Arman, Magdalena Abakanowicz, Frank Auerbach, Fernando Botero, Claudio Bravo, Dale Chihuly, Richard Estes, Red Grooms, Bill Jacklin, R.B. Kitaj, Tom Otterness, Arnaldo Pomodoro and Zao Wou-Ki.

In a large part, Marlborough has based its success on the basic tenet that energy, perseverance, foresight, attention to detail, hard work and bold creative action will bear rewards. Throughout its 50-year history, Marlborough has assumed an international leadership role in the support, development and stabilization of art as a cultural medium and viable market force.
